Staff
The Louisiana Justice Coalition is staffed by Heather H. Hall, who serves as the LJC's Administrator, and Jane Legendre, who is the organization's part-time Grants Manager.
Heather H. Hall
Heather H. Hall is the Administrator for the Louisiana Justice Coalition. Since 2004, she has worked to build a consensus of support around the American Bar Association Ten Principles of a Public Defense Delivery System, solicit media attention and support for reform, undertaken a diverse public education campaign in all 64 parishes, procure resources through development, improve communication with stakeholders, and support the community-oriented defense model in select districts. Heather also works, part-time, as a Special Projects Advisor for the Louisiana Public Defender Board.
Heather represents Louisiana as one of 8 members of the Community Oriented Defender Network Advisory Group at the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law and has done numerous national trainings on public defense reform across the country. Previously, she worked on a wide range of civil rights issues, including the statutory abolition of the death penalty for juveniles, as the Legislative and Public Education Associate at the ACLU of Louisiana.
Jane Legendre
Jane Legendre works part time with the Louisiana Justice Coalition as its Grants Manager. She is also the finance manager for several sister organizations (Innocence Project New Orleans, Resurrection After Exoneration and Voice of the Ex-Offender) in New Orleans, as well as administrator of the church in Covington which her husband pastors. Jane and her husband are also directors for Angel Food Ministries in Covington and in that capacity oversee monthly distribution of food to approximately 600 families on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.
Jane received her BA in English Education in 1972 and quickly learned that she preferred working with numbers. She started accounting by taking a position at a New Orleans accounting firm and immediately applying what she studied to the work she was doing. She has now been in various forms of accounting for 25 years.
