Media Outreach

Through hundreds of outreach interviews, dissemination of materials and significant media accomplishments, LJC has played a critical role in changing the perception and climate of public defense reform in Louisiana, bringing it to a reality in June 2007. LJC’s media campaign involves 1) reporter education and outreach; 2) submission of proactive and reactive letters to the editor, guest Columns and opinions pieces, and; 3) editorial board meetings in the major newspaper across the state.

LJC also monitors all media through a statewide media archive, maintains an accurate media directory for outreach and participates on national press pieces when possible. It has cultivated advocates for public defense reform by providing training, talking points and media opportunities to defenders and defender allies.
